light weight flywheel in 94 993

HI There,
I am about to have my gearbox mod with a 8:32 rack and pinion and LSD. Now already requested the shop to install the Light weight flywheel as well. However since the flywheel is something they have in stock so I still have time to consider and back out if necessary. Can anyone here share some experience about the stalling issue when lwf install in a 94 993. Since this is the very first production of the the 993 I wonder how it will react to it. My mechanic suggested they will do something to the ecu to take care of the problem but you never know. And most response from the rennlist are US version so there might be difference?

I recall a possible issue with stalling for the pre vram cars which i assume yours is.
I'd suggest you get onto the porscheclubgbforum.com (if you're a member of the club). The 993 register secretary Maurice is the fountain of all knowledge for the 993. He will either know or be able to point you in the right direction.

Hi, in two words...
DO IT
I had the LWF and RS clutch fitted to my pre-vario 993 (now sold), it was done by JZM, best mod I did. The stalling is only an issue on cold damp mornings and only happens when you dip the clutch from high RPM, if you let the engine slow whilst in gear the ECU will pick up the revs. Or just blip the throttle on downchange.
The cars revs so much faster it feels like a race car, especially with an ECU re-map.
Some cars will also need the Idle Stabilisation Valve cleaning out, a simple job.
Jonas couldn't believe the change in my car when he took it out.
I will definately do it to my GT3 when its clutch change time.

likewise - i have it in the 993 all be it a 3.8.
well worth the effort. So much better that i think its a must on a 964 / 993?
people will spend mega bucks on induction / exhausts to get 3bhp etc increase! when they can replace the flywheel when it needs a new clutch!
