Sports Suspension 997 S - Is it worth it?
Discussion
Just trying to complete the specification on my new 997 S and cannot decide whether to have the 20mm lower suspension "no cost" option.
I don't want too hard a ride and I certainly don't want to hit speed bumps every time I cross them.
Can anyone please advise A.S.A.P?
Many thanks,
Nick

This suspension option may be fantastic for track but it's too harsh on most British A and B roads.
I tried both before I bought mine and found the standard PASM option a better one for me. The sport setting on PASM is, however, a bit rubbish. It seems to offer the worst of both worlds.
You do need tor try both but you might stuggle to drive one with the -20mm option as it's not a popular choice. The OPC's therefore, don't often have any in stock.

GT Purely Porsche had a spread on this a while ago - I can dig out the issue number if you like.
They seemed to love it from memory, said it makes the car look a lot better too.
They reckoned it would knock off 18 seconds off a Nordscheife lap - in the right hands. (That bit just stuck in my head).
Ajit.

I spent a week with a 997 Carrera 4 with this suspension and it was VERY uncomfortable. On perfectly smooth roads or a track, great, but for normal road conditions I'd go for the PASM option so at least you have some control over the settings and can adjust to suit.
See the March edition of Total 911 as this has the test in it.

I agree with Kevin.
Having owned both I'd stick with the PASM set-up for everyday driving. -20mm (which is really -10mm) is great on track, mainly due to the slippery diff - for 90% of the time PASM car will be quicker n average give and take UK roads.
No doubt the -20mm gang will be along in a minute to disagree
- but if your plan is to use the car EXCLUSIVLEY on the ROAD go for PASM -if you will be mixing a significant amount of track time into the mix then you have a difficult decision to make! - It was an easy one for me - PASM for the road car...and for the track?....well my 997GT3 will be along soon I hope!Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
