Just had to share this with you all:

From Fridays Evening Standard.

A heartwarming tale for persecuted motorists everywhere. A driver mounted a one-man protest by leaping onto his car after it was hoisted by a tow-truck in Bedford Square.
He admitted he forgot to pay the parking ticket because he became distracted by a phone call at the critical moment. But he was incensed that by the time he remembered and sprinted back to the car - twenty minutes later - Camden Council had already lifted his motor into the air and was about to make off with it.

The motorist leaped onto his car and offered to pay the fine, stubbornly refusing to leave his perch. Camden refused to take payment over the phone and insisted he produce an array of documents at the clamping pound instead. A two-hour stand-off ensued during which Camden called the police. The officers warned he motorist they would arrest him if he didn’t come down. He relented - and the clampers began to lower the car onto their truck. But the crane jammed. The clampers accused the driver of breaking their hoist by climbing in the car. One of the Pc’s - who turned out to be a hydraulics engineer - said this was nonsense and ordered the clampers to put the car on the road as it was unsafe to leave it swinging in the air.

Fearing the loss of their £200 clamping fine they refused, insisting that everyone would have to wait for a second tow truck. The police said the truck was unroadworthy and that if they didn’t lower the car immediately the clampers would be arrested for obstruction. Grumpily they put the car on the road and the man drove off into the sunset.

Common sense still did not prevail.. If it wasn't for the broken hist the coppers would have been behind the clampers.
