Am curently in the market for a 911TT and spotted one for sale, spec, colour, etc is what I am looking for but it has a TechArt bodykit (subtle) and a 490BHP chip?

What's opinions on TechArt mods on a 911 ... goot to have or one to avoid?

I sense I may have some issues when it comes to sell it later as a lot of people may shy away from this type of mods on a 911TT?

What does everyone else think?

Surprised nobody has jumped in here......

My two penneth though....

Techart are generally pretty well regarded in terms of tunning, especially on the
turbo cars, though not as much as the likes of Ruf and Manthey.

Their 996 TT body kit is a bit of an aquired taste IMHO, i quite like it though.

I wouldn't pay too much for the mods though, as you will suffer on residuals i think.

Best to post a link of the car you are after, with price+spec etc, and people will soon give you
their opinion.

Hope this helps

If its got Techart upgrades the chances are the work has been done by Tech 9 in Liverpool, you could give them a ring?

Techart are OK but you've kind of said it yourself above. Resale on standard cars is always a bit more of a known quantity. Only buy it if you like it and it's well priced.

it does rather perplex me how much self-flagellation goes on in this forum about residuals. perhaps that is because my own porsche is now worth very little so i have less to lose! but this car, i presume, is for your own enjoyment so the first question must be, do you like the techart kit? if you do, then its worth it to you. if you dont like it, dont get the car.
you dont say whether this is dealer or private, but if the former then a dealer may well be prepared to return the car to its normal spec. I would imagine however that the extra bodykit is there for a reason (ie to increase downforce with your extra power) so if youre taking off the bodykit you may need to seek advice on taking out the chip too.

Nice idea in theory but probably makes no difference at all. Even with 420bhp a 996TT can still safely exceed 185mph, aerodynamically speaking. Another 70bhp would give it perhaps another 7 or 8mph only to top speed.

Not that it matters but I would take an Aerokitted car over a normal looking turbo anyday.

aerokitted yes but not non-OEM Techart

everyone will buy the std look, only some will go for a techart so I would actually argue they are worth less than a std car

personally not a fan of OEM kit but would love a TT with a factory GT2 aerokit
