Porsche Vehicle Tracking System
Discussion
I've had Tracker Monitors on my last 3 cars. Again - insurance mandates, but at least they work. My old Boxster got taken away on the back of an AA truck once. Nothing sinister, dodgy electrics. Anyway, within 10 minutes, Tracker rang me up to say my car was being moved without having been de-immobilised. All very reassuring to know.

I had exactly the opposite experience.
I had an SL55 AMG which required frequent visits back to MB on the back of a flatbed.
On three occasions the system failed to operate.
Tracker could not have cared less.

Does anyone have this yet? I believe it is about £1000 plus subscription from OPC.
My insurance quote of £1090 insists on a GPS tracking system.
What does everyone fit to their prized possesions?

£1165, including fitting and year 1 subscription. I've specced this for my new car, and it appears to have pretty much identical functionality to the Tracker 'Echo' system, but maintains the Porsche Warranty

I have always used "Tracker". My OPC simply "passed through" the cost and outsourced the work. I take it this new Porsche branded service is new?
I had the Tracker Horizon GPS job in the last car but only bothered with the Monitor system on the second. It does work as my second car enjoyed a number of flat-bed trips back to the dealer in its youth and Tracker phoned me *every time*.

Your post reminded me of an earlier, but equally sh1t, experience with Tracker and my local OPC.
I purchased a 996 C4S from them. They had just taken the fitting and administration of Tracker in-house. This resulted in them taking my money, fitting the device (apparently) but never activating the system with Tracker.
I'm glad that you have had a positive experience with them but if you do ever need to call, please hone your Indian call centre skills to within an inch of your life.
Pish doesn't even begin to describe how bad they are.
