A 325i could be anything from a 1986 2 valve M20 engined car to a later E36 or even E46, all of these cars have different emissions systems, fueling control etc etc, so "325i" is more than a little vague....

Faulty engine temperature sender, thinks engine is either always cold and chucks too much fuel in or thinks engine is too hot and chucks too much fuel in to compensate...I had this problem.....Have you cleaned the injectors which can also stick causing overfueling.

A trick told to me by a BMW specialist was that if they get a borderline emissions result they put a full bottle of injector cleaner in half or less of a tank of juice and then thrape the car for a half hour or so both to clean the injectors and to burn off any residue.........they tell me its always worked so far.

Cheers,

Tony
