For a few weeks now my 4.0 pre serp Chimaera has been ticking over a little high, usually between 1200-1500rpm
It's not had the amount of use I usually like to give it, so I've been putting it down to neglect, sometimes the tickover drops to a more normal 1000rpm after a good long run, but not always, sometimes I get a hunting between 1000-1500rpm
I've also noticed the oil pressure reading seems a little on the high side but as the guage's main role in life appears to be just to fill a hole in the dash I've not been taking too much notice of it, and I figure too high is better than none at all...but the oil level was a little low so thats now been topped up.
Stepper motors been off and cleaned, and thats made bugger all difference. So thats my technical know-how exhausted so over to you?

Sounds as if you may have an air leak somewhere, this could cause the high idle speed, and idle hunting. It’s worth checking all the pipes that go to the plenum chamber are secure.

It all looks ok, but I think checking a few jubilee clips is within my technical know-how, and it gives me something to do tonight.

Don't forget to check the small vac hose on the back of the plemum, just behind the stepper. This goes to the fuel pressure regulator, behind / below the throttle assembly. When I checked mine this had become disconnected causing an airleak and high fuel pressure.
