Cool !! So it is an imp one too. It's a 998 then ? Twin carbs ? What about the exhaust and rad ? I do like the Clans alot, although I like my Davrians more
Very light weight those clans, and very stiff chassis too. How's the thing round the corners ?
What state is yours in and how long have you had your clan for ? What made you (buy) go for a clan ?
I have two Davrians, a road going MK4 which sits in my garage all the time and a hillclimb MK3
I sent a pic into racingimps.com
Nice site for us folks
Regards John

Hi John
The engine is a bit of a mystery and I believe it was built by Northallerton Engineering. At the moment it is running a Twin choke downdraught Weber, which I am not to sure about. The exhaust and manifold appear to be standard Imp sport.I have tried changing the exhaust but couldn,t find anything to fit ( I have a spare Janspeed exhaust manifold if your are looking for one!).I bought the car from Hexham Horseless Carrriages, as it was on the forecourt one day when I went to collect my TVR.Unfortunately as a third car it has sat in the garage alot.It has been totally rebuilt with great detail, by Ian Bannister, before I bought it.Lots of powder coating, braided hoses etc.

I owned MCN 898 L from 1979 to 1984, rebuilt much of it in that time. Sold it with a 998, wills ringed, R17, 2x40s, deep pulleys, konis, lowered, reworked window winders(yes i know its not a power mod but the windows kept falling into the doors, used Cortina Mk 3 cable winders). believe it's still in Kendal, anyone seen it?

Gentlemen, if I feel I should add to this topic by saying that an old school friend's dad used to have a few Clans parked on his drive in Gloucester. David Excell was his name, and I believe he brought the moulds for the Clan along with another David whose name escapes me.
On a similar Imp based theme, one of the guys in our office has a Davrian racer which he uses to compete in various sprints around the Bristol area (when it's not broken!).
Just thought you may have wanted to know this

Hi John
Not been on the site for a while so I've only just seen this.
The project has stalled a bit due to work commitments but basically it looks like this
Originally Mk8 rally car. Now fitted with Mk7a modsports front & rear. Lowered and fully rosejointed suspension. Shocker/spring system replaced by AVO coilovers. Engine is Ford Xflow but when I have it running it will be either a BDA or supercharged. It runs a Hewland Mk9 box that I have had to fabricate a custom linkage for as it runs upside down. Brakes are Willwood that took a lot of fabrication as they require mounts that I had to weld up from scratch.
Promised myself that this winter it WILL be finished
Cheerz Ian

Hello John S4X4,
I just noticed your forum entry about the Davrian Mk3. I am the Capt J G Cummin(g)s mentioned.I last saw her at Aintree in white bodywork driven by B Heath.
I bought the car as a heap lying in a garden, stripped it,re-painted,new engine 1100CC(allegedly),straightcut gearbox, built in front oil cooler,2x weber carbs etc.
I did make two engine space air scoops out of two plastic plant pots..are they still there??
The engine cover I made from an old washing machine casing.
Had a lot of fun at Oulton Park, New Brighton(116mph in speed trap),Blackpool Sprint, Woodvale.
A very safe car to be in when you went careering off at Oulton.
Great for me at 73 years old to find out more of its history.
After Davrian I tried a Gryphon clubmans but no success.
All the best with my old car...if you still have it that is.
