3.2 0r 2.7

Hi there, thinking about getting a boxster. Question in the title really, is it worth getting the 3.2 or sticking with the 2.7..

Insurance, petrol etc not really an issue..

I test drove both the 3.2 and 2.7 extensively, and in the real world, there is not much in it. So I went for the 2.7. When you are doing speeds over the national limit, then the 3.2 will have more shove for sure, but in normal everyday situations, less is more in my view - but that is my view.

In fact, even Evo mag says the 2.7 is a more rounded car - than 3.2. Big brother has more power and six speed box, but 2.7 is sweeter balance of power and control and nimbleness.

You will love either whichever you buy!!

The 3.2S comes with extra grunt (+40bhp) which is nice. But the car also comes with a bundle of other options/upgrades that present reasonably good value.

Brakes are bigger and also drilled for a fade-free visit to the track or your favourite mountain pass. (If you need this on the road you are a NUTTER!). Air/Climate etc are standard on the S - although everyone fitted it to the 2.7. Errrm. Can't remember the other bits.

It depends what you will use the car for. If its for cruising and sunny days I wouldn't waste the cash. If its for *driving* you have to have the S.

There is that!

The six-speed box does mean a nice long "top gear" for quieter motorway jaunts whilst the closer ratios further down allow one to take advantage of the available power by "stirring the pot" a little more.

Thansk for all the positive comments.. Its confusing, specs differ loads even in the same engine size.. So looks like a visit to garage, in fact off now to look at 2004 2.7..
