What are the widest tyres for MK1 GT3 on std wheels?

The first thing I did was to have the geo reset and corner weighted by Steve at JZM on my Mk1 only because I wanted to make sure I got to know the car as it was supposed to handle. Since then, all hints of understeer at road speed has been dialed out. Running regular sized Rossos... if your car hasn't had a geo setup, I'd recommend it before upgrading beyond original spec tyres.

I have 235's at the front as well, for road use. I didn't put them on - new when I got the baby... (SO2's), although there is minor evidence of rubbing on the plastic wheel arch liner.
But then also mine seems to be a bit lower at the front than others I have seen.... Perhaps it's an anal tape measure moment....
Bottom of front lip (Badly graunched) to garage floor - 89mm.
Front wheel arch to garage floor - 610mm.
At the rear I think the wheels limit the width of tyre selection to 285/30's but there feels like more room for expansion if 11" wheels were fitted as Mk2's. I dont know if you could fit 8.5" fronts without getting into rolling the arches but as the car handles fine for my extremely limited abilities when I got my trackday wheels I stuck to standard size and offsets and fitted the standard 285 225 combination.
Point also to note is that there is a fair diversity of rubber (contact) width between makes, but I don't have any figures...
Thinking further perhaps I should have got my trackday wheels and tyres fitted BEFORE sorting the geometry as it was done on my road setup???
