Can anyone direct me to a page with a good explanation on how to setup a car with a double wishbone / coil-over-shock?

Thanks and Kind regards!

Do you have basic information on the manufacturer's suggested spring rates and geometry, or are you working from scratch?

If you have the geometry, to be honest I'd be inclined to set it up roughly, then get a professional to do the proper job - they have much more accurate equipment and the cost is relatively trivial.

If you are working from scratch, you may need a lot more trial and error. Start by copying the settings of similar cars, then try reading books like Carrol Smith's 'Tune To Win' to see what settings you need to adjust for particular cause and effect.

If you are having specific problems, e-mail me through my profile and I'll try to make helpful suggestions.

Thanks for your reply. Basically I am working from scratch. The Countach replica I am building hasn't been in production since '92 and these kind of figures are not obtainable. I would very much like to get a basic knowledge on this type of setup and will leave the final setup to a professional as you suggested. You can see a pic of the rear setup here. Please note that the car is not looking like this at all anymore! Check the main site for an idea what it is all about

Anyway, if I get to the point were I am going to mount all the suspesion parts I will most likely sent you an email.

Cheers,

Theo

Did the springs and dampers come with the kit? If so, you are at least part way there (assuming that the original manufacturers have got the spring rates somewhere close to being correct!)

Firts step would be to make sure everythinng is equal...set the ride heights, then make sure the camber, castor, toe settings etc, are all the same for each pair of wheels. A good starting point would be to use the geometry settings for a similar car (real Countach, or replica GT40, perhaps). From there, it is going to be a matter of trial and error - test drive the car, try to identify any faults with the handling, then make appropriate action to correct them.

Yes, in fact they did, but no information on them whatsoever. I can only assume that they belong to the kit. I've seen the same type on a friends Sienna Countach so it's a safe assumption to make I think....

Thanks for your comments, they are duly noted!
