just a wee question. I've got an early s2 which i bought second hand 6 months ago.

the instrument pod glows a lovely blue, but there;s no back-lighting of my fan control switches etc in the middle of the dash.

should these be back lit??? - it looks like they might be supposed to be.

can someone let me know who's had an s2 from new, before I dismantle my dashboard for no reason!

chears!!!

errr....I don't think mine do either, although I've never actually noticed it. I don't think they are backlit...

Neither do mine ... a conspiracy to cause winter accidents ? I think so ...

The heater control panel is very simple to take out - of that there's no problems. But I think there is a very poor bulb just above it, not illuminating from behind but instead just lighting the front of the panel.

This is completely from memory though!

it took me nearly six months to realise my S2 had a little light over the heater controls that comes on when the door is opened or when you toggle it

the first time I toggled it by accident I nearly **** myself

You just have to use the interior lamp situated just above.

On later cars, the interior lamp moved to between the seats on the back panel. Then, they illuminated the heater controls I think.

I can't actually see my heater controls very well even in the light - they're in the wrong positoin. I simply turn heat up down or to window depending on how hot cold or sight-lacking I am!!!

The interior light is on the back panel in my car (03 mk2) but I'm fairly certain the heater controls aren't illuminated at all.... Will have to check now, just for peace of mind!

Mine tend to glow a bit in the dark, didn't think they were back lit though. Maybe they are!

Probably not on the 120BHP versions without the HVAC extra vent unit

Sorry, didn't make myself clear: the 111S and R and Exige have the HVAC-ready heater control/vent console, 120BHP K models have the controls on the aluminium panel, presumably this panel is not back lit
