Electrical Gremlins
Discussion
Hi, im new to wedging this week and I love it, bled the cooling system, adjusted the handbrake, good to go!
Just one little niggle - the wiper, fan motor and main beams don't work immediatly from starting the car, its a consistant problem every time. After about 1 minute they all work fine. Is this normal, or does anybody have any ideas? Its a 1986 350i by the way.
Cheers.

Hi Paul and welcome to the Dark Side. Minor electrical problems like things such as wipers lights heater motor not working are all just a part of Wedgering, so GET USED TO IT !! only joking. What you need to do is find, check and clean as many electrical connections as you can, get the alternator checked out along with the battery. A possible cause of all sorts of problems is always poor earth conections. you need to spend a long weekend with your head stuck under and inside you new Wedge. Good luck, I am sure someone will be along in a bit with more detailed advice. Come back and update this thread with some more details and we all will try and help you. You must get along to BBWF 06 (see the thread at the top of the page) Where are you?? somebody will be close by to try and help you if you get really stuck. One more bit of advice dont waste your money on anything till you have asked about it on here it, could save you a packet.

Hi everyone, thanks for a very warm welcome, great to know there is so much support out there. Just been on to the the TRVCC and purchased 'the bible' - some light bedtime reading! I shall be having a good prod at things this weekend, check all the earths, sort the winking headlight etc!
My wedge is a 1986 350i convertible, metallic gold, and were based around Maidenhead, Berkshire, not far from BBWF 06, so i will see you all there.
Cheers!
