One of my headlamps has a hole in it - would anyone have any idea where I can get a new one from? Tried Halfords, they can't get hold of one. Tried Rimmer Bros. but they too were out of stock and could only offer a sealed beam unit conversion (36gbp for a pair). Replacement headlamp units cost around 28gbp each. I did buy two Xenon High Performance (legal) bulbs (9.99 each) while I was in Halfords to try and improve lighting so I'd rather not persue the conversion unless absolutely necessary - any thoughts?
Can't help now, but I may have some papers around that might give me a clue.. Get back to you tomorrow if I've found anything..
In the meantime, anyone with general tips for how to improve the lighting at the front end of an S3C? I'd wondered abouyt Zenon bulbs, worked great on my last car), but have seen a conversion somewhere, (was it modwise?) that seemed to offer a fair bit more power.
Ideas anyone?

Psychobert - you may want to do a search on the S forum. Apparently some S owners are running 100/80 bulbs in their headlights, which arent legal but assist in being able to see at least 5 yards in front of you.
In a hypothetical situation I have found them to be better. Plus mine were set far too high initially and still didnt get flashed cos the car is so low and the electrics are not sufficient enough to cause problems with other drivers.

yeah it was Pete and I followed his advice. I "upgraded" mine to the Bosch high performance ones (again 60/55) and they were just as crap as the originals. Swopped to the 100/80 ones and they do make things better.
Keith - stunning motor mate. Like the original wheels on it too. Beautiful.
Thanks Shnozz, it is a flattering photo! - I bought the car a few years back from Adrian Blyth (top bloke) chopped my old S1 in against it. The V8S had the new Chimera style wheels which I thought looked bloody awful (personal opinion of course!) - I asked if he'd mind if I kept the original wheels from the S1 and swop them over. He said no need, he had a spare set of the slots anyway and in better nick than those on my S1. As I said - a top bloke, you can't get these anywhere now I understand!

Just shows ya the difference in opinion I didn't view a car because it had the S1 wheels , as you say all IMHO. Just as well really they wouldn't have been original fittings anyway, just wish I had the exhaust note of a pre cat.

You see I thought that was just an excuse for boffing an ugly bird.
I actually like both style of wheels. In fact, I like all the different styles of wheels on both the V6 and V8S. IMHO opinion Keith's give that classic look with those wheels and the original stripe down the side of the car. Harry's gives a more modern look with the chim wheels and this goes with the later registration.
Its all a matter of opinion, but I think both look superb.
Cheers chaps.. Will start off with some uprated bulbs and go for the mod-wise conversion when I have the time/cash..
Not that I'm suggesting I'd use illegal bulbs of course, but just to be sure I don't accidentally buy them, anyone got the part number for an S3C to hand for when I pop into Halfords?

Funny that 'coz ive taken off the stripes since the photo - I decided I didn't like those either
Still got the pre-cat exhaust note though Harry & thru a new stainless exhaust too, sounds bl**dy marvellous, almost better than sex (ugly bird or not!)

Is it one from Wedge (RT racing), if so I got one of those in standard (non-sports) trim as well. It certainly produces a better more bassey note, even with the bloody cats .

Wire directly from baattery / fusebox with decent wire and at least a 30A relay for each side, this will prevent volt drop on heads / full beam and give some light. Also, clean / replace the lights if they are dirty / corroded.
Phillips blue vision (auto xpress winner) are good, 100/80's are too but the extra load may cause switch / relay damage unless uprated.
