Hi, my 92 4.3 has the blue and red marked front springs, they measure about 425 ib/inch. This seems bl@@dy stiff for a road car. Does anyone know what the later cars had fitted?

When I was sprinting Scimitars 350 lb/inch was about the stiffest I fitted, and it handled extremely well. Any clues appreciated.

Are you sure they were measured correctly? Griff 500 had 280lb front IIRC.

Nic,That does seem high for these cars(not that i'm an expert mind you).I've been through a process of experimentation and found that you don't need to run anything like this high a poundage if you have good quality damping.I'm currently running 375lb front and 275 rear, and to be honest,i still might drop another quarter, and i like a fast road/track set up.I think the guys from nitron told me they use a 350/250 set up on our cars,if that helps.
If i were you,i'd talk to Joo(Trackcar) and see what he says.Any decent specialist in these cars should also be able to advise easily though.

Nitron & Ohlins both specify lower spring rates than the twin tube manufacturers because they rely on the gas to drive the shock but its down to the valving and piston rod dia on twin tube shocks, which seriously affect how the shock works, its no good having hard valving on the rear with soft shocks, the car won't work to its best potential. The front is not quite so critical on the Griff.
BTW with Guglielmi's valving, 300/325 rear and 375/400 front gives a very nice ride and will suit most drivers, wheras Ohlins would be about 250rear and 325 front.
