There's all sorts of opinions on this one andy..

A good starting point would be to search the S forum for 'springs', grab a beer and have a good read of the stacks of posts it will bring up...

You'll almost certainly find the same spring / damper setups cropping up time and again where people's use and 'feel' is similar to your requirements..
