On saturday i set about attacking a list of "to Do" jobs one of these included replacing the rear speaker that ive mentioned before,as luck would have it i came across a pair of uprated BOSE rear speakers and Amps (50w) so they went in on saturday.

While i was at it i replaced the rear shocks with some new ones plus i made up some longer bolts to lower therear down an inch, next on the list is the ABS light thats stuck on,bad earth i think somewhere.

On the black one i set about looking at waht was causing the ticking,my suspision was a lifter but i set about pulling the plugs first and cleaning them up on cylinders 2,4,6 and 8 once cleaned the leads were cleaned,on start up the ticking dissapeared and idle was smoother,so as it turned up it was the usual gremlins and next on the list is to get the calibration sorted ready for the dyno run on the 18th to see if i can get the 600 plus ime gunning for.

Hows your "To do" list coming along?

Here you can see the difference in the leaky and new shock with all the electricals swapped over.

While it was in the air the exhaust was lined up finally the fog lamp removed aswell as the lowering and shock replacement.

Sitting pretty after the work that took around 3-4 hours.

I think what Cliff meant to say was "while I was roaming around the largest warehouse of ZR1 spares anywhere on the planet, I called into the ICE department and selected a couple of speakers.........."

Where were you Sunday??

Cliff, does this mean we might see the black Z out soon I hope ??? Dawn London Tunnel run in a few weeks, be good outing if it's ready.

I've had a busy car stuff day last week,
1. Removed passenger side header to replace constantly blowing gasket (as displayed/heard in the Viginia Water video)and found last owner/mis-user used body filler to even out the mounting flange, which of course over time has cracked fallen etc. Out with the angle grinder and sander to level it out. Now back on, new gasket, sorted (I hope).
2. Also fitted new headlights with proper halogen bulbs, with a conversion kit meant for Mini's, to replace the truly ridiculous old sealed beam units, massive difference.
3. Tried to remove front coil springs to see about dropping front down a bit with cut or new springs, and maybe to see how difficult to remove wishbones, as wouldn't mind fitting poly bushes one day. Nightmare, can't get springs out as I need an internal compressor, and can you get them anywhere ??? I have two McPherson strut type compressors but tried with no luck. Gonna have to take it to my clever Garage friend for this job me thinks. At least I found out I have Mororso front shocks.
4. New Interior light on the way, as mine fell apart when I replaced the headlining.

Still gotta sort
out crap brakes (vibrating and needs new disks but might try and upgrade to drilled discs, would love full 'Baer' conversion but about £2.5k)
the leaking boot/footwell, try and adjust play in steering, fit new back shelf, fit new stereo, Find bigger/better carb, find front spoiler,

Cars, don't ya love em'''

You are a star Cliff. I was thinking of trying that. I reckon that afoot and a bit length of threadod rod and two 5-6" lengths of strong threaded bar may work, but not confident of my drilling/tapping abilities when involving a 400lb spring under tension... ! The internal types recommended in a workshop manual look ideal but no-ones makes them. Sort of a three pronged claw on a threaded rod with a big circular plate and bolt at the bottom.

Cheers for the link. I checked it out but none for mine there. Summit stock some good drilled and slotted discs for not silly money, carriage may be pricey though.

Hope your rebuilt motor lives up to your expectations...

Don't put youself out mate. I think the guy that did my bodywork welding will be able to sort it in the next week or two. He loves the car and seems keen to help me out. Very much appreciate the offer though, you are a gent...
