recarpeting complete

Finished the recarpeting at last. Would have been easy if it weren't for the ravages of the tin worm I found as I went along.
I didn't think much to the £35 per square metre for automotive carpet so went round the gash carpet firms. Found some carpet at Dallas Carpets with the same rib pattern and a thin felt backing just like the original but a bit better quality, the original had no backing £32.54 for a piece 3m x 4m could have got away with at least a metre less but for once I didn't make any mistakes.Used 7 cans of spray adhesive from Dallas at £2.99 a can. Used the old carpets, that I pulled out carefully so as not to damage the sound proofing foam, as templates. With no compound curves the carpet has gone in easily, just the odd tiny ripple where there was one on the original carpets. For £53.47 and a bit of time and patience the car looks and smells great inside, or it will when I get phase 2 done the dreaded dash re veneer. That will have to wait till the brake mod is finished so that I can :drive: again Can stay off the road longer than March 1st.

Nice one. I'm taking the same route though I will be cutting to size before sending the cut pieces away for binding. I've got to put in new sound proofing though.

Interesting - I had a look on their web site but it seems to be an Explorer-only type of place. Damn that Bill Gates!

Which style of their carpet did you go for? And do they do it in a dark Navy Blue?

Cannot remember if the carpet had a fancy name,there are 4 or 5 colours comes in 4m width.
My car had Ganges brown carpets originally, which I didn't like, the car is red so I recarpeted in a sort of charcoal grey and it looks better than the 20year old original did. Main thing was that the carpet has the same ridge in the weave as the original so it looks like automotiv carpet and it isn't to thick to get round the bends.
