My driver's side electric window has finally given up the ghost after a couple of years of the electric motor requiring the occasional tap with a hammer to get it working.

The TVR factory is out of stock and I was hoping someone can tell the details of the part so I can source it elsewhere!

cheers

Your only hope is getting one from a scrappy.

I thought car makers were duty bound to supply parts for older models for five years after production ceased

I think they are planning to get some in, just not soon! I was hoping someone would be able to tell me the part no. etc as it is probably used on other manufacturers' cars in which case I should be able to source it easily.

Yep but only available as part of the complete mechanism. Not available seperately. I tried when mine died.

Urban myth. Anyway production ceased in 2000 so we are in the 2006 so 5 years has gone....

I went through this route and failed. Various people have claimed it is off such and such but none of them were right when you get down to the detail. In the end I got a complete mechanism and just swapped the motor over.

So it's not Mk2 vauxhall astra convertible which was (apparently) a straight swap into my friends 4.3 griff then?

Could well be but when I searched the archives and Sierras, Citroens, Peugeots etc all come up and when you look at them they bear little relation to the original. The motor is used on other cars but again while the casing is similar the internals are slightly different. In the end it was so much easier to call a TVR scrappy and get a complete mechanism. After all I expect there are more scrapped TVRs about than Mk2 Astra Convertibles... unfortunately.

Don't apologise... I know how elated I was when I got the part number and how down I got when I when I could not get one on its own.
