I was just about to renew my membership of Club 24 after letting it lapse last year and noticed at the bottom of the form: "The membership fee includes the statutory subscription of €27."

Subscription to what? Is it really €27 to join the ACO and the rest of the €93 is for the race goodies?

Oh b*ll*cks... for some reason the Euro sign doesn't display... €27 should read Euro 27 and €93 should read Euro 93. It's OK in the preview...

What's the deal? You fill in the form. They debit your credit card and you receive sweet FA. At least that's how it worked for me.

You should get discount on entry tickets for you and up to 5 friends, entry into the member's only pavilion and lawn for you and 5 mates where you get clean loos, big-screen TV, discounted food and drinks. Access to hourly time-sheets etc. a couple of guidebooks and a poster after the event. I'm sure there's a few other bits but basically I join for the discount and member's facilities. Rich...

OK, so now I've found the € key what I meant was this: the form for Club 24 mentions 'the membership fee includes the statutory subscription of €27'. Statutory subscription to what, the ACO? If so, is it possible to join without spending €66 on the book, film and poster of the race?

Oh sheep dip!! I cut and pasted the s*dding Euro sign that time.... I give up. Where's the corkscrew, I'm off to open another bottle. Respond if you can figure what I'm on about otherwise I'll see you somewhere around Arnage on Friday.

I'd guess it's just some French law thing - having (technically) seperate membership and subscription, even though you can't actually buy one without the other.

Can one of the (ex)members help me out though.

I have/am booked through the TVRCC, so the ticket discounts are not an issue. Is it worth one/some/all members of a group also being members of Club24?

Can you get 5 friends in to the members building/on to the grass or is it strictly members only other than the entrance tickets? The hourly updates and TV would be nice, but Radio LE Mans is better with friends than TV alone!

I had the same problem. No way round paying the full 93 Euros. Just got Le Mans Classic tickets and the discount has basically paid for the membership with that event alone. Free paddock passes, free ACO grandstand seats and discounted entry tickets for me and 3 mates. Never been to the main event as a member before but I'm guessing the official timing sheets will be useful.

I've just booked for 17 cars (all Riley)for the Le Mans Classic so I guess it'll be worthwhile again this year - just wanted to free up some more beer money.
