well i've finally gone and done it, i've knocked my number plate a bit hard on a concrete curb that was a couple of inches high and it's cracked the bit of fibreglass the number plate attaches to. granted this is probably in part due to the size of the holes the previous owner drilled trying to make the plate stay on, but mostly cos i'm a retard and didn't notice the concrete block.

i stuck it back on with some new sticky pads covering the cracked bit, but it doesn't seem to be holding as this morning i reversed out of the garage only to see my number plate on the floor - it now falls off without any assistance what so ever!

so it looks like i'm going to have to get it sorted properly. is it something thats repairable or (god forbid) is it as bad as a new front clam?

also am I going to be best off taking it down to christopher neils or are there any independent places that do body work repair on elises that anyone knows of/works at/owns in the north west?

cheers

there are some good dubble sticky tape in the business(the black one's for carsand so) just go to a big carshop or the "do it yourself markets"...but before you stick it up, clean very good the surfaces! with a good produkt! by us they call it wasbenzine translated I hope its washpetrol? anyway it leave's no oily product behind, carpainters use that stuf to clean the car before painting.
good luck

ooo don't you just hate it when you damage your pride and joy! It'll never happen to me blah de blah de blah, yeah right i did mine in november parking in a space at the NEC, i hadn't cried in a long while before that! the good news is that there is none! the cheapest quote i could find for a local repair and flash respray was around £500 , a full repair and total front clam respray would be nearer £900, thats with horizon motorsport in west mids (they are the cheapest and the best!) I haven't bothered to get mine done yet as i like the idea that MY elise is lighter than anyone else's (due to the acres of fibre glass missing underneath!)
