is a full tvr service history necessary
Discussion
Hi
I have owned a 99 speed 6 for almost 3 yrs and and up untill now have had it serviced at tvr in Barnet . As the car is getting old ,although only done 15k , i was wondering if it is necessary to get a full dealer servive or can I use a specialist .As i will be changing the car hopefully in the next few months im worried about re sale value
the next service due is the 30k mile one .
The car is in v good condition , wheres best to try and sell it ? i will try the classifieds on here but was wondering if anyone else had ideas ?
thanks in advance for yur help ... great site

Depends who the buyer is....
If they know FA about Tiv's, they'll want to see a Fully TVR main dealer stamp book.
If they know what they're doing, or they've had one before, they'll be happy with the well knoown indies.
to add, try Autotrader & Sprint

Wasn't interested in the service history when I bought my TIV.
The only time I looked at it was when the warranty suggested they would void the transfered warranty without it.
Of the cars I saw when I wanted to buy, the full service history said little about the cars condition when I actually arrived.
In short, its a good thing to beat the seller over the head with but useless to predict a problem later, and still more useless to resolve a problem with. Its not a garantee of anything although for reasons I've never understood it seems to be treated that way.

I'm looking for a Cerby at the moment, and as far as i can tell the the owner, general condition of the car, whats been done to the car and by whom seem more important that a main dealer service history.
Especially after roading threads on here where things go pop on the way home from the dealers!
Mail me details of your car if you want to sell
cheers
Paul
PS hope i haven't just jinxed my self!

coffeenomilk said:If you're going to part-ex at a dealer, whether TVR or not, stick to getting the official stamp as in most cases that will be preferred over those of indies (why is another matter) and they'll drop their offers accordingly, but if you want to sell privately, as has been said, go for the indies.

I must say that TVR Centre prices IMO are very reasonable considering they're a main dealer within the M25.
