I see on e-bay,that it looks like Rob(v8 racing),is selling some tasty induction mods, that come off a Taraka engine. The trumpet base has been radiusd instead of using flared trumpets.I wondered what the difference was in performance terms?Mine has 45mm trumpets,so i was just curious

I presume that the base is already opened out to 45mm. Dont the trumpets help prop up the torque, and would none mean a higher peak power figure at the expense of midrange? I'm no expert though.

I would agree with that. Not convinced that this is a good mod.

Not totally convinced either. Biggest single issue I can see is the unequal lengths, if the centre ones had extra short trumpets then it might work better at least

Beg to disagree .. my home-blended trumpet base is helping my V8S produce the highest hp it's ever done, and the midrange is also the best it's ever been. If you're handy with a Dremel and have a few hours to spare it's one of teh best mods you can do. my car still produces peak power before 6krpm so rumours of peaky hp are just not true in my experience.

I don't doubt at all what you're seeing with your car, but it does beg the question, why bother to design, manufacture and install parts that give no benefit? Can't be to do with emissions, surely?

.. they will give a benefit .. secondhand they'll be well worth buying if you're not too practical with a carbide cutter .. but they're about 250 pounds new I think on the RPI ebay shop so blending your own base is much better value even if in outright terms the trumpets may make slightly more hp. (I've looked into getting cheap trumpets made myself but can't find a cheap way of doing it yet)

I've yet to try back to back on a big hp 5litre though so all my findings are 4 litre based only so far... Just that on my engine in it's current spec I've found a few things that work and a few that don't work.

A blended trumpet base on my car is far from near the catastrophe many said it would be (coincidently some of the people saying it are some of those selling trumpets lol) .. however it depends what you're comfortable with.

I can well imagine many people will just want to buy trumpets and fit them, and for those people the pre-formed trumpets are the way to go .. so the Rob ones on ebay will be well worth buying for them .. just that I'm a cheapskate and I also like playing and a blended base works just dandy in my motor, which is not what I'd been told would be teh case beforehand

We could do something about that

I've just checked out Rob's auction .. at those (current auction) prices the bits are a steal .. you can get the trumpet base, heat barrier and inlet manifold for half the price of a set of trumpets at the moment .. bargain induction upgrade for someone
