Im currently studying my degree and aim to go off on placement for 12 months from june onwards with a race team.

What books do reccomend that cover race car setup.
such as changing the car for wet race slackening anti roll bar etc

Would like a book that can further my understanding on setup for track.

Any ideas?

Brad,
Carroll Smith has done a few books that you will find useful.
Prepare to win.
Engineer to win.

Make sure the Team let you do stuff, not clean the truck and wheels.

I have a test session hopefully lined up with 2 Formula Renault teams.

Ive got a post under the classifieds trying to sell my ass to someone!

Also I have worked with caterhams in the past and we ran my mate for this years formula ford festival and he came 2nd overall in the 1600's!

Brad,
It is difficult to show what you can do during a track event. The team don't want to let you loose as they don't want any mistakes.
Try and hook up with the No1 mechanic on a car and ask him to give you jobs to do. This way he will build trust in your ability and increase your area of responsibility. He may also have some say in whether to employ you or not. Try and think adead, ie, the car is about to go out on track, get the jump battery ready to plug in.
Best of luck, which Teams are you going to.

Thanks lanan,
I helped with caterhams, i was lucky enough to go to the nurburgring with them taking 2 cars over and had a pretty decent job with the team there. But i was young and didnt have the knowledge i do now.

And with my mates ff1600, he hired the raysport car for the weekend and I helped him and his father set the car up, blah de blah.

But i understand that to start im going to end up washing wheels and waxing the car, but I really want to be setting the car up, talking to driver regarding the changes after the race etc after a few months into my placement.

Its a formula renault team, i would love to see who they are but im just so worried about them i dont know falling out with me for posting or something as its taken a long time, lots of letters, calls, emails to even get this far.
