Rocker box cover torque setting

Can anyone help with the torque required on the rocker box cover of a S2. I am going to do the valve adjustments for the first time and the bible only says tighten to specifications. I have searched the Forum and can't find them.

Rocker Cover Bolts 6 to 8Nm or 4 to 6 lbf ft

Be careful - there are two types of gasket. The proper Ford ones have little metal spacers so the cork doesn't get squashed, so the torque setting is right for them.

Pattern gaskets have no spacers - if you tighten them too much you just squash the cork out of the joint and it leaks oil all over the place. You want to nip them up just enough to squeeze the cork but not squash it.

Thanks for the replies. I have got pattern type gaskets, but with the advice I think I will visit my local Ford dealer to get the genuine ones. It may put me off doing it again if i end up with an oil leak.

never had a problem with the standard cork ones and had no leaks

best thing to do is tighten them up and check a few days later and see if any are loose

I wasn't saying there was anything wrong with pattern ones - all I meant was don't tighten them up too much.
