I’ve removed the driver’s seat, had it recovered, refitted it and it now rocks. Its firmly bolted to the chassis but it rocks slightly back and forward. It's a 1998 S1.

I’ve removed the seat again and the “bars” (the bit that fasten to the chassis) are slightly loose in the “sliders” bit that fastens to the seat, causing a slight annoying rocking affect when fixed in the car.
Does anyone know if this is general wear that I am going to have to live with or is there some adjustment I’m missing.

Im sure it didn’t do this before I sent it to the upholsterers.

Any ideas?

You should be able to square things up with a couple of washers I'd have thought?

Thanks Tusc but I just cannot see anywhere to put a washer that will help.

Does anyone else have any ideas? Other than squeezing the “sliders” in a vice to nip every thing up I’m stumped.

If rocks means a bit movement when locked in position....I guess its general wear of the sliders, I had that to in a 1999 Z3 M coupe because of many fast acelleratings...and big power, then I bought this newer end 2001 car and it was ok...but now, 1.5 years later and many fast past buys and fast from 30 to 100 and stuf like that, I feel it also beginning to rock in teh sliders, just a small movement you feel when you brake or pull up? just a very small movement it is now, but in the older car it was a big movement cost of many fast driving and hard braking I guess...nothing to do on that properly, get new sliders!

Cheers GT but I think I will try the vice first.

I'll have to get one.

I think every man should have a Vice.

Cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, hookers. Not necessarily in that order.
