More AON insurance good news

Earlier I mentioned how impressed I was when I contacted AON regarding track day cover only to discover they now include 5 track days free.
I also reeled off a list of modification either done or about to be: gt3 seats, Pss9 suspension, rear cage and harnesses, 450bhp kit - No additional premium.
Now put my partner on the policy (she's 26) and it only went up by £25!
Increasing the mileage limit to 5K cost £60
So, all in for under £600.

Second that, we've found them very good, offering personal service rather than a call-center mentality so prevalent with insurers. E.g. after a change of numberplate (previous owner wanted cherished plate back) they didn't charge for new paperwork, it came next day etc etc

Does sound good - shame they don't do european cover

Very interesting - I had been with AON since 1998 (for all the reasons the other posters quote), but moved last year when they significantly increased their premium and refused to reconsider (blaming rating increases by RSA).
I found much cheaper cover with NU via Chris Wilkins at Bickley insurance.

Mate, I never said they were cheap......
I moved in the opposite direction to you. I left Bickley due to the fact that NU were making them limit the number of track days a bloke could do in a year. With Aon, there are no such restrictions. The price of the annual cover was only slightly more expensive than Bickley, but the cost per track day was half the price (and the first 5 are free!!!), so swings and roundabouts in my case at least.
Mind you, I am in the so-called "Private Clients" scheme, maybe that is more expensive? I dunno. But the way I speak to the same 2 people every time I ring is just brilliant.

Don't think they do Euro trackday cover though which is where some wires crossed above.
Used them for years too. They also look after the MX-5 Owners' Club insurance scheme and very good they were too - I had a 250hp+ everything-done-to-it turbo MX-5 and they insured it for years, all modifications declared. Always good to deal with - I now have both my 993 and my Clio 182 insured with them. Recommended - they genuinely appreciate the enthusiast element of the insurance marketplace...

I was indeed talking about european track day cover... When I called a couple of months ago I was told that european track days are not covered? Is this not the case? I will be looking for new insurance cover at the beginning of May (I need european cover for Spa at the end of may) so this is good timing for this topic!

damn ! when I rang up in dec' they told me euro wasn't covered so I'm now with NU via Bickley and I am going to Spa in May and currently under NU I won't have any cover
Aon do it for me, already discussed Spa with them and its OK, have my own Private client manager (Sam Aslett), I've even phoned while at the circuit and arranged cover, they only state no euro. cover untill they get to know you, only costs 60 quid for all the "minor" tweeks to the car, the only issue I have with them is they wont insure the BBS's, strange when they are cheaper than originals
After hearing all the good news on hear, I thought I would give AON call. After 15 mins of waiting for my call to be answered, while having to listen to a machine telling me my call was important and some eighty's music, the line went dead. So much for them I thought, they obviously don't want my business.
So I checked out www.confused.com which is very good. It checks loads of different insurance companies and the one's it can't check it gives you the details of and the URLs to.
Norwich union wanted £1387 with excess of £520 to renew my 996TT insurance, Admiral wanted £903 with £500 excess and up to £750 stereo cover, quite a saving, well done that internet!

Went to Aon for quote at Porsche Club GB Festival at Brands Hatch....but no-one available to speak to me. I asked could I leave a number for someone to get back to me, as my insurace was due within the next 30 days. Scrap of paper produced upon which I wrote my contact details.
Went to Ann Manning UK at same event. Friendly yet totally professional reception, details taken and competitive quote issued there and then, with proviso that they wanted to check one detail concerning my modified 911 turbo.
Two days after the event, I received confirmation in the post that all was fine and that the quote given was correct.
I gave Ann Manning UK my business, and still haven't heard back from Aon!
