hey there people this is my first post here but I have been lurking in these forums for a couple of weeks now.

One of my original plans throughout life was to get a cobra and a ultima.

Well after reading about the HP/LB ratio this car is starting to scare me a little so I thinking of backing off a bit, plus I found a new site for Super7's on the cheap.

Anyways the plans for cars goes

super7
5.0 volvo wagon(gonna have kids someday)
FFR roadster
ultima

I am a realist and recognize that I won't be able to get the ultima for quite some time but I do consider that a blessing seeing as how this is such a hard car to control when you don't have experience drving.

Oh yeah petrol is much cheaper on this side of the pond

What side of the pond are you on? If your going to get into the building of cars, I'd suggest you find a kit or a car with a Chevy 350. It would be a good experience for your Ultima some day. Not to mention, the parts are very abundant, and cheap. Its also the easiest motor to tune and hot rod(IMO). Everyone and their mother's rebuild these engines here in the states. Have you thought about restoring a classic American sportscar like a late 60's camaro with 400hp/400ft.lbs of torque? This might be a better stepping stone if you're in the states.
Cheers!

p.s.You could always opt for a more mild 350hp/350ft. lbs of torque if your new to this.

Good advice Big Mack. If you really have your heart set on an Ultima work up to it. And by all means get into it. Attend as many car shows as you can and ask questions from owners. I have had more fun with camaros and old TR3's than my friends with more modern exotic machines. Why? because i'm into it. I have also met some of the best people on the planet, both in the states and UK. If you want to build an ultima some day, fantastic, go for it. But the road to building your Ultima should be fun too.

I am stateside,

But the reason that I am going with the super7 first is because I want to get really good at handling a car around the track first and then ease myself into the more powerfull and faster track cars.

I have just seen way to much accidents and most the forums from people cracking up their cars to know better.

That and I just graduated from college so funds are a little tight at the moment

Aj send me an email at keithlein@comcast.net I would love to talk about cars. I hope im not breaking any rules but I couldn't reply directly to you. I also don't want to upset anyone by filling up the Ultima forum with non Ultima info.
