I'm very sad, (my) Exige Cup 240 they sold! to Asia!!

Sad news for me also!! today the Lotus Dealer called me on the phone for the lovely Lotus Exige Cup 240 2005 I talked about in my threads...I had a first option but the Lady from Lotus England sold it without letting the dealer and me know to a guy? in Asia! so my long waiting from september/october 2005 till know is all for nothing I'm very disapointed, because it was a very famous Exige Cup in many articles and movie's also on PH, this is/was mine(only not on paper but first option)

This is the car that I was after and promissed to me, not the dealers fault but Lotus England some lady, they sold the car to some Asian people? never see that thing again...aaaaaaaaaaaaahhh it was a car with historie!

here Dutch car program driving in that(my) car! thats the one...but I could not say before, because I was afraid some rich guy buy it from Lotus even f it was promissed to me...hm...and still they did, but nothing on paper only a small paper that when the car was ready they would call me...

It is hard, but you will find another 240r that you can make famous in your own way.

You're joking? Surely this must be breech of contract? You did put down a deposit with intent to purchase, without conditions?

You could do very well out of this if you play your cards right.

gutted for you mate. How could they do this, it cannot be right, if you had 1st option, than you had 1st option. I just do not know how they could weasle out of the contract.

Something else will come along I am sure, it will just take you a while to find it.

This doesn't sound right to me for a number of reasons. 1) I was able to walk into a showroom in Tokyo last November and simply buy one (It gets delivered in two weeks) so there is no shortage of cars, 2) The dealer in Tokyo has a bright Orange Cup 240 Chassis number 001 sitting in their basement so if somebody really wanted one there is one in the garage but it is left hand drive, and 3) the car you mention is left hand drive which means it cannot be driven anywhere on the road in Asia (with the exception of Japan and China).

I live in Japan and there are cars available so I really don't know what the story is btut I doubt that it is coming over here.

buy hey, - yes it's nice to have a car with history, but a car that the press has driven is always going to have been thrashed and possibly not run in propperly!

get a new one, then any hastles and damage are your own fault!

Thanks guys for the response...I'm still very sad and ofcorse somewhat disapointed in the way things has gone, but have to say I did not put a disposit and did not sign anywhere...so has no real rights to show and to stand on, only the word from a nice dealer who ordered the car to sell if the racing season was over to me...but it was not his, but Lotus Englands car, it only was in the Netherlands for a while.
And yep, ofcorse the car had bin treaded not so well by car journalist and in his last race in Italy? it crashed, otherwise I could by it after that...so it has to go back to build it up again...and I was put on a hold...very long, the dealer phoned a few times but by then it was not ready...and then I visited the dealer again last week and he phoned again to Lotus England and then they say its sold to someone in Asia broke my heart on that moment but there will be others to chase... only this would be a good deal to me the dealer sayd last year! and I could turn in my BMW Z3 M coupe...aaaaaaaaaaaahhh
He also offered me the phone number of that Lotus Lady who sold it without asking the Lotus dealer in Holland, but I refused...even if I spoke to her, the car is gone! so that aint gona help to get that good deal back...
Just hoping on the next deal?, the dealer here will look for me, but there are not that much 240ties around!(I gues maybe 2 or 3) so it will take a while I guess.
So no contract breech or disposits only a small note they maked for reminders...and words...I know words are also law but proove and a long road to go and not a nice atmosfere are not worth it, so I go on! and wait and search for the next best thing, if I sold mu BMW things would go better but its a expensive car so difficult to sell...because in Germany there are also nice options and also Belgium some nice LHD examples but then I have to sell my BMW first...to get that money.

You talked about the Orange Lotus Exige Cup in their basement a LHD example?? number 001?? how is that possible? the car I was after had also number 001 !! see the text and photo of the shield...this one so how can that be....???the one I was after was the first according to the shield.



do you also have a photo of their nummered shield? strange otherwise...maybe thats why they can't sell it ?
