Fans gone AWOL

Hi PH buddies, I do not have my bible to hand at the momentos andtoday the fans went pop. reasonably sure its the fuse so can anyone tell me-

1 -Where the fuse is?
2 -the rating?
3 -is it just a blade fuse?

For some reason I can never get any results when I use the search facility so before the sarcasm police come out please dont tell me this is an age old question as I have had a really bad week and I am dying of cold got the two bob bits aswell.

Hi Russ

The fuses are in the main fuse box which is behind the access cover in the passenger footwell, on top of the battery.

There will either be one or 2 fuses,(on later cars) if 2 they are Nos. 1 & 19 in the fuse box.

TVR recomend 25 amp, personally I'd recommend 35 amp, your choice

In the freindliest possible way........never relace a fuse with one of a higher rating.The fuse is there to protect the circuit,and a higher rated fuse might not do this(it could lead to a fire for instance).Personally i was a little surprised when i first discovered that the 2 fuse set up is 25A each.I was expecting 2x20Amp,but have never yet tested the circuit to see what the load is.When i first got this griff,the previous owner had put two 40A fuses in,i guess he was misinformed by someone.I have always run two 25A without problem,might get round to trying two 20A one day.If you cannot run two 25A fuses,then you either have a problem,or someone has changed the load on the circuit,ie different fans.

The fan only draws 10 amps, when spinning, but the surge when they come on is much more, around 18 amps. This of course depends if you are moving when they come on as the fans are actually spinning already. No wonder there is a horrible splutter when they kick in, nearly 40 amps, usually at slow speed and you jerk your foot on the throttle, making it much worse.
