are they digital or do they still need to flash?
and can they determine your EXACT speed and do they have any 'leeway' before you get booked???

Some Truvelos are digital.
As Outlaw says, they use an infra red flash so the first you know bout it is the NIP.

You can normally still see the flash at night and on dark days. It just looks a lower intensity than an ordinary Gatso flash, presumably because most of it's power is in the IR spectrum.

However, the Truevelo’s I’ve seen flash only did so once. Maybe they take one totally IR photo and one normal photo??? Or maybe they only give a visible flash when there’s no camera in them and they’re in “scare mode”. The Truevelo manufacturer’s website used to advertise flash modules that could be fitted to camera boxes to go off at speeding drivers when there was not a real camera installed.

I'm not sure if they're truvelos but the forward facing A1 cameras in that 50 zone south of Peteboro flash 3 times in some sort of pink/purple/red colour.

Edited to add : I'll see what I can do Outlaw!

Anyone know if Truvelos "see" through a heated (defroster-type) front windscreen when it's switched on???? As there must be a massive IR spectrum when the heater is on..............

slightly O/T, but I've recently written to my MP about Truvelos in Northants - they're going up without the yellow markings, which they should have in our county. He has replied stating that he doesn't think Truvelos are speeding cameras, but he thinks they're for moitoring traffic and stolen cars!!!! Duhh, how are we supposed to reason with people like this, I really am at a loss as to how to reply rationally to the man. One good sign is that he is going to check with the chief constable, so at least he may find out the real use of the cameras!

Percy, I think you'll find those cameras without yellow markings have just been installed, and are not operational as yet. Approx 11 in total are due. Funny thing is, I haven't seen Talivans at the locations to justify there positioning?

Tabs, I've noticed this too. E.g the new Hopping Hill Scamera, I've never seen or heard of a van there. I think they justify the positioning (to themselves) by putting it on a hill so they know they make plenty of cash out of it

Most important thing not mentioned in the thread, is that the forward-facing Truvelo cameras I am familiar with, can not be detected with a radar deterctor, as the camera is triggered by the offending vehicle crossing inductive loops burried under the road surface...not by radar!

Yeah JMGS4, they can see you no problem.
Infra red part of the spectrum your demister works in is in the heat part.
Infra red light 880-940nm wavelength is just that light.
Sorry mate!
