Value for money

Is there anything you can rent in Britain, that gives you consistantly poor service, the people running it don't care, and want even more money out of you. Safety seems secondary to revenue generation, everyone needs it, lots of people are hated because of it, and you can't opt out of paying for it - even if you don't use it much.

Yep, roads. Anything else would be forced out of business, but HMG take our money, and give us grief in return when they should be thanking us for propping up the entire economy.

Angry? haven't even got going yet. It's a monopoly, and we're the losers everytime.

Why can't I get a rebate for everytime my journey is delayed? damn I pay too much for this poor service. Where is the value for money?

next you'll be wanting honest politicians, fair taxes, a decent press, white goods that last longer than their guarantee, a digital radio for less than £100, trains that run on time, banks that dont over charge you, reasonably priced fags and petrol, car parks that dont stink of pi$$, a modern efficient underground etc etc.

The whole idea behind all of these "unpleaseant" experiences is a design to get us out of our cars by making it so bloody unbearable to be driving one!!!!
A subtle use of force to make us go the public transport route(no pun).
BTW, train fares are going up next year,again, for an even shittier service, now thats what i call quality public transport.

There is a way round the problem of shitty service from the rail companies ... the good old complasint letter. I recently had a horrific trip back North from the motor show, I wrote to the Chief exec of Virgin Trains with a cc to Sir Richard, totally by passed the 'customer services' ****wit. After 3 weeks I receivewd a total refund of ticket price, subsistence (bar expenses) and car parking. Result.

the best way to get people to use public transport is to lay it on in the evenings when people want to go out on the piss rather than during the day for old biddies to go get their pension. It would make far more economic sense.

Paying over the odds for something that you have to use, is in sh1t condition, the owners don't care, they give you grief and always want more money from you.... Have none of you guys had to rent property??

Works well for me
Some buses run all night in Edinburgh, so if I'm not too hammered I can remember when to catch them.

What gets my back up is the fact I have to go over a toll bridge every day to and from work (excluding social visits into town). Thats 60p each way so £1.20 a day to go to work. Adding an average of 8 trips over a week on a social basis at 50p each crossing out of peak hours that costs me £520 a year to go back and forward over a half mile bridge, on top of road tax.

I guess I have it good compared to anyone who commutes from Bristol over to Cardiff every day.
