There has been nothing but rumour of late, and whilst this might not be accurate, it looks (with a greater degree of probably than any 'rumour' to date) that this is the spec for the new camera:

Here are comments Ive copy/pasted, to save you reading the whole thread (link at the bottom of my post)

Visit:
www.canon-europe.com/Search/index.asp
and search for 30D

Says "Documents 1 to 1 of 1 matching the query", indicating a match is found.

Searching "35D" says "No documents matched your query, please refine your search" indicating the new camera is not going to be the 35D

Also:
Try searching:

"Canon AND 30D" => 1 Match
"Canon AND 30D AND 8" => No Match
Canon AND 30D AND 10" => 1 Match !!!!!!

So it's a 10 MegaPix Camera

"Canon AND 30D AND 1,6" => No Match
"Canon AND 30D AND 1,3" => 1 Match !!!!!

So yes, it would appear to be a 1,3 Crop !!!!!!

AND PICTURE STYLES works, as does 2,5 LCD
"30d AND 10 AND 1,3 AND 9 AF AND 1700 euro" turns up a positive result too.

30D AND Styles (5D PictureStyles)
30D AND 230000 (2.5" LCD screen, to confirm: 220000 doesn't work)
30D AND Flash (duh -- but you never know, the 5D doesn't have one)
30D AND PictBridge (I hate paying for this stupid feature)
30D AND Wireless (hmm...)
30D AND Microdrive (probably supports Compact Flash then)
30D AND 96% (viewfinder coverage, 95%, 97%, etc. don't work)
30D AND Tracking (perhaps something with autofocus, might be nothing)

Ones that don't work:
30D AND III (no Digic III? but II doesn't work either, just Digic works)
30D AND Weather (no surprise here)
30D AND GPS (wishful thinking)
30D AND Dust ("Clean" doesn't work either -- Olympus SuperSonic)

If you're interested in reading more (its a big thread) you'll find it here:
http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/rea

What do you think? Im inclined to believe what Ive read, and cant wait for PMA

EFS lenses won't work on a 1.3 body - that would suggest they have given up on EF-S

Ive just had a look on fredmiranda, there only seem to be two efs lenses on their site. Still getting my head around ef vs efs lenses - how many people would mind, if canon made no more 1.6 crop cameras, other than the rebel range?

Not me. I'll be keeping the 20D and picking up a 1DMk2 sometime this year. Best of both worlds

As for the EF-S range, all i can think of is the 18-55, 10-22 and the 17-85 IS.

You'll enjoy that 1DMk2

Looks like its not going to be a 1,3 crop (If you can be arsed to read the whole thing the thread goes on to explain why)

I thought moving to a 1.3x Crop for the "new 20D" would be a bit strange...

It'll be an LCD,MegaPixel and maybe a FPS / Buffer upgrade i should think.

What are we supposed to do with all our nice new DX and EF-S digital lenses if Nikon and Canon decide to make the crop levels lower?

There will be millions of useless lenses all over the world.

My bad

I was quoting what they were saying... and in the 2000 page thread, they went on to suppose that the crop factor might not be the 1,3 they thought it would be. We might end up with another 1.6

You just crop off the black ring

I suggest you lot go out and do some gardening/wash the car/paint the house until Canon makes its announcement

More likely is Canon will reserve the EF-S lenses for their budget D-SLR 350D and below.

Not quite that easy tho is it? Wont the birror hit the back of the lens which is wht EF-S lenses are mechanicaly incompatable with FF cameras? May be ok with 1.3 crop.

Everything has its price You might even decide that you like the handling and control layout so much that you go for a D200 (available very soon if not now)
