Having remarked just a few days ago that my car hasn't cost me much money, yesterday, driving along, changed into 3rd, that awful feeling that the clutch was slipping came over me.. bugger & right before Xmas too.

Pretty sure its a single plate clutch as is a GTS so a late car, should be about a grand at the end of the day.

Craig,

I have been told that Ferrari used single and double plate clutches during the production of the 348 series. They put these on the cars with no preference and at random. It might be single or double. If you go to FerrariChat.com their is a lot of discussion about clutches on the 348...

hi there,

I do normally frequent ferrarichat but hardly anything came up on a search.
I'm hoping its a single plate clutch obviously, QV autos reckon it is so here's hoping.

Bit weird though, dropped the car off (at a specialist)to have some work done & its fine, pick it up 2 days later and cant drive more than 1/4 mile without clutch slipping!!??

To be honest I really don't think so. I pretty much trust the guys there and mine is about the least exotic car they'd have there.

Hopefully all's well that ends well as I just got given a free mornings rallying at brands hatch for 2morrow and have managed to book the car in at Foskers who are based there! Should be done by late morning, wayhay. (all assuming its a single plate clutch!) Should be around £750 all in.

The car does sound bloody fantastic without the cats and a lot quicker too.

I had a similar problem on my GT4, the clutch would start to slip after a few hundred miles. It turned out to be the cable, not the clutch itself. There's a little pulley wheel at the back where the cable turns a slight corner...if this gets stuck your cable will wear out pretty quickly. Worth checking if you can get under the car?

it was the clutch in the end, was apparently absolutely worn out & about to wreck the flywheel as well. Weird that I didnt get any signs of slipping though.Going like a dream now.
