how do you remove the centre console ??

may have to remove centre console to get to bottom of window switch problem - can anyone tell me how it's done on an early Griff? I mean the panel between the two seats that houses gearlever/handbrake/heater switches. many thanks.

The hand brake needs to be in the vertical position I-m sorry to say, the easiest way to achieve that is to frmove the rear disc pads , honestly , if you have a ramp then you can get under the car and try to get at the cable. Behind each seat there are two 10mm nuts that need releasing that hold the rear of the tunnel in place. Remove the gear knob and select 4th gently ease the centre consol back and forward while lifting you will eventually get enough clearence in to disconnect the wiring from the control panel

You don’t need a ramp to get to the handbrake adjuster, just whip the rear wheel off, drivers side I think, and you’ll see the adjuster for the handbrake just inside the chassis, back it off until you can pull the handbrake lever high enough. Shouldn’t take you long to do it. Do you have a Steve Heath manual??? It’s very helpful when doing these jobs.

Whats the switch problem , that means you have to remove the centre console?

the window switches have packed up. I think it may be due to me trying to re-position the heater fan switch - it's such a mess of wires behind there that without removing the centre console I'm just fumbling in the dark so to speak...

I have just been through a similar situation.
I decided to remove the whole dash and have a tidying session.
The front dash just unplugs and then pop out the main dash.

Everything is exposed then and far easier to sort things out.
Took me about 40 mins to get the whole lot out.

My hazard lights only ever worked with the ignition on, now I know why, someone had had the switch out and wire it incorrectly....
Feel better now I know the dash wiring is tidy.....sad I know

As Paul said, this is the quickest way.
