Could you get the Saleen kit seperately and add it on? I'm thinking either my budget may not stretch to a Saleen or that a RHD Saleen would be impossible to get hold of AND too expensive.

Bearing in mind the budget will be "Best I can get circa or under 20k"

I could then slowly build the car up to something special

Yes, everything is available from the US Saleen website.

However, you're going to fall foul of shipping costs if you ship them individually. In the long run, it's cheaper to buy a Saleen - even if you put all the parts for a Saleen on a stock Mustang, it will still only be a "replica" Saleen - all Saleens are numbered. There are also a few Saleens in the UK already. For the suspension bits, you might be better off getting the parts from Roush in the UK ( www.roush.co.uk ) which work out roughly the same as the US prices but without the shipping. Alternatively, you can save up, buy all the Saleen parts, and ship them in via a company like Moving parts which will cut down your shipping costs.

The other alternative is to import a Saleen yourself. there are plenty of Saleen bargains on ebay in the Southern states. There is also a car called the Steed Screaming Q which retails for not too much over $30000 IIRC.
