steering wobble/vibration

I get intermittent steering wobble/vibration when at motorway speeds. There is no consistency to it however as sometimes it is fine and then sometimes it comes in for a bit. Generally speeds from about 60 plus. Just annoying so thinking of getting the wheel balancing checked? standard tyres/wheels.

Yes, I had similar - quite bad vibration at motorway speeds but interestingly also dependent on road surface, ie. sometimes it was better than others.

Re-balanced the front wheels and instantly it was 90% improved. They were about 30g out, enough to have quite an effect it seems.

Hi, I had this, wierd, sometimes good other times not. In the process of looking I found the front suspension bushes were shot, especially the ones by the exhaust (rear upper). The suspension had moved, as the bushes had allowed the wishbones to slip forward, this afected the castor angle and thus the steering stabiltiy, alot of feedback and poor straight line stabiltiy. Thumpy steering on poor roads. Check teh wishbones are central in the brackets where they meet the chassis, otherwise its a suspension off job. Actually not too hard.
