Nopies, it's what happend when you run the dyno outside it's calibration-accuracy roller speed range .. a 4th gear run produced the 450bhp graph you see here .. but it's outside the designed work-back database limits of the rollers .. ie teh rollers will spin virtually to any speed you want them to, but they have a band of accuracy we worked outside of in speed terms.
the experiment was prompted by a conversation I'd had with paul from Austec about ways to do the runs .. this car isn't a 450bhp car but it can be made to appear that way by manipulating the dyno run
In actull fact when we run the car properly it produces the same figures as Nobles did, 405bhp!
with some tweaking after the linked decats were fitted it made more, but I'll leave Julian to explain all as it's his baby and the results are impressive in realityanyway
post the proper 3rd gear run Joo and put them all out of their misery ..

Ok Ok I thought we'd be able to keep this going a bit longer, but the figures shown are correct albeit produced in 4th GEAR as opposed to 3rd GEAR
.In third gear (which is what is usually used on the Dyno Dynamics RR), the Cerb produced an impressive 410bhp and 383lb/ft torque, this was done after fitting Joolz's linked decat pipes and correcting fueling / advance to suit.
Prior to fitting the linked decats the car produced 405bhp and 373lb/ft which I was more than impressed with bearing in mind that the car has not been driven for 3 months due to weather and knackered manifolds, I changed the manifolds on Saturday.
After this we changed the std decats for the linked versions and put the car back on the rollers, this time it made 410bhp and 376lb/ft, but found that fueling wasn't correct so spent a fair bit of time adjusting, this then resulted in a very strong torque curve all the way through the range and the power was up all the way through the rev range also compared with the original map.....the fueling is now spot on, not too rich or lean anywhere in the map. The other noticeable change with the linked decats is that the power / torque was noticeably improved from 4k rpm onwards, but below that the fueling / advance had to be corrected to improve upto what was originally there. Final figures were 410.3bhp and 383lb/ft torque.
Hope this all makes sense, and please accept my apologies if the graph misled anyone, I only posted it to see peoples reaction.
When we did the run in 4th gear I have to admit that my heart missed a beat as I saw the graph rise rapidly past 400bhp
, we really didn't expect to see such a difference between 3rd and 4th gear runs..........Jules.

This probably explains the 440+bhp readings we got in the past from Austec tuned cars then?
So I take it the manipulated dyno run 'technique' is not ledgit?
Bloody rolling roads, I'll stick to GreenV8s recent remark, "figures are meaningless" lol.

I take it the tune was done using the Emerald ECU? (because if memory is working, you upgraded to Emerald not too long ago, right?)

1st week of April is going to be busy for me, as, assuming it all holds together, Ive got a track day at Brands and hopefully the Austec/Santa Pod day.
Thats more in a week then Ive done in 20 months.
I think I need to turn up at both with a nice big L plate on the back

The car is currently at 410bhp and 383lb/ft torque, so still a little down on Nicks RR 4.5.
I can't wait for April 8th at Santa Pod, and you're right, it'll be who gets the best start that will result in the fastest time.
My car had the Emerald fitted about a year ago, but I've gradually added subtle mods and maps to suit thereafter, I'll update the "Various States of Tune" thread I did in November to reflect this but current set-up is as follows;
Standard 4.5
Emerald ECU
FFD Short Induction Hoses
Linked Decats
