This bugs the hell out of me - do people not realise what happens to fibreglass when you bump into it....I wish they'd be more careful - this is far too close for comfort. I have told the culprit that he is too close, and I hope he's not lying to be when he says that was as far back as he went.

If I find later (when there's room to look) that there are cracks in my paint, there is going to be a WAR.

I just thought I'd share my frustrations with those who understand!

If your alarm gives a code when you turn it off to get in it this evening, make sure you do check it. Usually a good indication that it has had a substantially enough whack to have caused damage. Even if it doesnt still look.

Good Luck.

blimey! That's ridiculous!!

there's no judgement there - pure luck, even if he had sensors!

My particular bug bear at the moment, in the car park at work (underground) I absolutely wedge my passenger door right up against the wall so that my driver's door has as much space as possible (we all know how difficult it is to get out).

Why do people then think, not 'oh he's parked over for a reason', but instead, "oh that means I can park far worse" and STILL make it difficult for me to get in/out!

I'll take a picture if (when) it happens again - it does drive me crazy.

It's not like it's difficult to see your car
(ps: it looks great )

I understand completely, what a moron?! no sympathy for carlovers or people who care for their cars... thats realy up close and personal...
Some people also do that when parking next to you! they don't care and they act as they live alone in the world, they don't think on other people feelings...aaaaaaaaaahhh
hope nothing is damaged...because some people do that for fun, not bumping but park it very close so the carlover will think
cheers

He's such a midget I wouldn't be surprised if he can't see much out the back of his car - I don't doubt he know I was there though, just very very poor judgement!

This guy was looking to buy an Elise once, but bought a Skoda Octavia RS instead - and now I've pipped him to the post by getting a Lotus first! Sour grapes?? (no, he's not that much of a muppet)

I know exactly how you feel ,

I parked up last November , popped around the corner to the cash point and found >>>>>

A teenager sitting in the drivers seat !!!!!!!!!

The sides of the car are very thin fibreglass .you have to hold the anti roll bar and slide in .....if you try getting in using your hands on the sides theres a good chance of damaging the sides. !!! doh

needless to say ..........I gave said lad a good ticking off !!!

hence why I rarely take my Elise to a car park and use the celica for all donkey work. The fibreglass on the TVRs seemed more flexible and meant you could get away with small trolley knocks but then bigger prangs would cost a whole lot more to repair than a metal bodied car. However, these Lotus' seem susceptible to minor knocks meaning instant cracks.

That's eff'ing ridiculous to park that close ...

And while I'm ranting ... what is it with people that would rather squeeze into a gap with only 1/2 inch or less on either side rather than park somewhere where there is space to open up a car door properly?

Sure it's only a small ding but the mere thought makes me

Nutters ... ...

I hate parking my car in a public carpark. That is what the poonjero is for!

The other day had to do a quick run to arsda. I parked in the most remote corner of the carpark with nothing around it for 30 yards. 10 mins later I came out to find some chaved up astra parked on my door handles. To add insult to a chessed off gooby, he had straight stripes.

toys were all out of the pram....
