Road Angel Navigator/Sat Nav ?

Anyone had any experience of the new Road Angel Navigator ?. I currently have the new Road Angel 2, and Road Angel are offering a deal to existing customers, to upgrade their systems. I've often fancied a Sat Nav system, and this one combines Sat Nav with GPS safety camera and blackspot alerts, and would welcome anyone’s opinion as to how good (or not ?) the Navigator option is ?. Ive just done the same. 1st unit had to be replaced as it wasnt picking up a sattelite lock. 2nd unit much better, but still not as good as my RA2 (which you get to keep on the upgrade deal if you have paid or will pay the 3 year subs on it, to sell on or give to family/friend?). I bought the external aerial but havent tried it out yet to see if that improves things. The speed readout is slower to keep up, when accelerating or braking, than the RA2s. I had a couple of problems locating addresses via post code input, one being my own home, but can always find them by putting the address in instead.

You need the new user interface download, much better than the standard one, and works well when not in navigation mode. Different colour screens (red and green for cameras, and blue for blackspots)if you are over or under the road/camera speed limit.

I also purchased the European mapping card, which for some reason will not activate properly. Ive got Blackspot looking into it.

If nothing else, Blackspot's customer care has been very good

What is the audio quality and LOUDNESS like on the RA Nav?
I also have the upgrade offer on my RA2 but i cant hear what Tiff is saying over the sound of my engine with the RA2, is the navany better?.

I never had a problem with the RA2 audio, even in the cerb. Ive only used the Nav in the Audi so far, and it's been fine. Taking the cerb out Thursday night so I shall see how it bears up in there.

Isnt the voice level adjustable? It is in the Nav IIRC.

The paperwork they've sent me says that when I receive my chosen upgrade unit I have to send my existing unit back. Also, I've paid for the 3 year data download upgrade which they also say is not transfereable !!, yet you're saying you get to keep your old unit on the upgrade deal if you have paid or will pay the 3 year subs on it???, am I missing something?. Thanks

Yup, definately get to keep the RA2 if you have paid your subs. I actually read it that you had to pay for another 3 years, but when I phoned Blackspot the girl said that as I had paid the 3 year sub (albeit 18 months ago) then I could keep the old unit. I have both units sitting here in front of me

Edited to add: Sorry, misread your post slightly. The 3 year sub is NOT transferable. You will have to pay for a new sub for your Navigator after your 1st, free, 6 month sub that comes with the unit

Well, I bought mine Friday before last and paid £199, then the following (last) Monday I got the flyer saying the EU card is now £149

I have sent off a nice letter to the MD at Blackspot asking for a £50 refund (considering I have 3 RA2s (for family) and a Navigator and they officially changed the prices 24 working hours after I purchased). Waiting to hear back.

They sent me a new SD card this morning and it works a treat. Must have had a duff one before. Shall test it out in anger in 2 weeks when I take the dustbin lids to EuroDisney
