Permanent ECU lead?

Has anyone else created a permanent ECU lead for the MBE ECU? By this I mean creating a flylead so that you don't have to take the cover panel off when you want to use it.

I've got the bits to make a 9-pin extention cable and some grommets etc. to run it though a hole in the cover.

Just wondering if anyone else has bothered?

Yup... I have. One of the first things I modified when I bought my Cerb. Sod crawling about in the footwell every time. Saves the Indies time when shes serviced too.

My flylead is tucked just behind the upright to the left of the centre cubby hole.

Did have one for a little while, attached to a laptop in the rear passenger footwell which in turn was attached to a 7inch touchscreen in the centre speaker cubby.

It was quite cool for a while, but ultimately too fiddly to muck around with on a daily basis.

I took my exact same setup out as well end of last year, far too much bother for anything but the longest trips. Left the ECU lead in situ and it's tucked under the trans tunnel casing passenger side.

I was wanting to do this too - can you run the diagnostic software from a PDA, or something considerably smaller than a laptop? A permanent screen in the cubby hole showing all of the engine sensor displays would be quite reasurring...
