Ok ok, so it probably sounds like the least ph car going but its what ive just bought.
Anyone got any ideas how to get more power out of this pint sized engine? Ive been looking round for turbo conversions but nowhere seems to do one. Any other ideas apart from the obvious GTi engine swap ( I still want economy! Im becoming rather fond of 60 mpg!) Obviously I wouldnt expect anything spectacular from it, just something to get me up to 60 in seconds rather than minutes.

Opening out the fuel pump seems like a fairly obvious step, anyone got any clues on how to do this?

Cheers

Er, maybe look at selling it and getting a 306 TD? We've got a 1.5 megane tdi (100bhp), gives 50-70mpg, space, handles etc. 106 is a bit dated and a tad slow!

Yeah, magic stuff. I had a Pug 106D which I played with. You can play with the injector pump timing a tad, makes the idle more clattery but gives you more oomph up top, muck about with different fuels. I blew mine up! Propane injection is the way to go. Seriously, be careful, you need a bottle of propane and a 90 degree on-off tap. Muck about with it until you get it right, it's like nitrous but if the engine runs away with itself, it will explode! (Which can happen). Nitrous works with diesels but in my opinion, not as well as propane! You could try butane as well. Raise the compression ratio more? Lighten the flywheel? Bolt a bini supercharger to it and give it massive boost as well as extra fuel injectors. Right, I've got it. Mazda Millenia lysholm supercharger, clutch actuated, as well as a button controlled propane solenoid. But Pug 106D why? Put another engine in the back, twinny it!
