the track runs up and over a mountain (mt panorama)...no real room for a run off. check this little bit of flash for the circuit map and speeds of the v8 tourers around it.

That looks ace. i have been watching the v8 cup for many years now and know that track quite well(from my chair at home). always wanted to have a race there.

difficult to see from tv or in-car shots but the track is deceptively steep especially on the down-side, hence 'the dipper'.
