red light - engine cuts out

Guys

Has anyone any similar experience (and even better an answer)
coming home from work on Monday night with cerb running OK (1999 4.5) filled with optimax 4 miles into journey all OK then onto M25 and M3 as I get off M3 at Bagshot on the exit ramp the red engine light flashes momentarily and enine cuts and resumes straight away. Continue for last couple of miles home and it happens twice more always on a light or trailing throttle.
Tuesday off to the dentist (lucky me) all OK except just changing lanes on the M3 (after about 8 miles) and it happens again in gear on a trailing throttle with a nice exhaust POP this time.
Rest of journey OK and all the way back OK (20+ miles)
No problems on load and I think the light occurs at or before? the cut hard to tell as it really happens very quickly no obvious probems under load(except traction)
new throttle pots 1500 miles ago,Austec remap at same time, plugs 1000 miles and magnecor leads 1500 miles ago standard engine except ATC cherry bomb de-cats and sports pipes

Have you checked to see if the main cable from the battery is shorting on the LH manifold?

Is the red light the charge light or the MiL light?

its the MIL light
and I will look at the lead

Mil light normally suggests a prob with a sensor eg air temp.
worth getting it to a dealer and onto the laptop. Probably really simple and cheap to fix.

Had this a couple of times.....check the engine oil level
Strange but works...just a small top up resolves it for me.

Could be the start of big fuse problems?
