The answer depends on how your mail system is setup. Do you run you own mail server. Is mail delivered via smtp or do you pop it from somewhere? Is it one pop account or multiple?

With a few more details I'm sure the good folks round here will have some suggestions

If you run your own Exchange Server you need Symantec Brightmail Anti-Spam (You can buy it from Grey Matter) - and at first encounter its the mutt's nuts. Just installed it at our site and it's brill. Tuning our configuration now....

If you don't run your own server you might find it cheaper/easier to get a client-side anti-spam. I use McAfee Spamkiller at home and apart from sucking the life out of the PC you install it on it appears very good.

Steve,

I know why you're getting tons of Spam too. Your web-site lists your e-mail address in unencrypted form so that the evil spammers "bots" can extract the address from your web-page programmatically. Now this has happened there's no going back (although it *is* possible to prevent it from happening in the first place using some sneaky JavaScript).

Chances are you run your own Exchange Server, right? If your 'mail server is hosted your ISP *should* be Spam Filtering *for you*...since you're getting Spam I assume they're not or you have your own Exchange Server.

I just bought a Brightmail licence for 10 users (one Exchange Server) for under a couple of hundred quid.

I you are seriously stuck e-mail me and I'll try and help you out...

www.jracademy.com/~jtucek/email/download.php

There are *loads* of implementations out there. This one generates you some JavaScript you cut and paste into your web page. The author is somewhat full of himself but he *has* provided a useful, and free, service. Good on him.

I use SpamPal - www.spampal.org

It runs on your local machine and it doesn't stop emails getting downloaded, but once you've trained it up it very effectively indeed filters out the crap and I very rarely get any false positives.

I use a Barracuda Anti-spam and anti-virus firewall appliance. Cracking bit of kit. Catches 99% of all spam and viruses. Great first line of defence and pretty cheap too. Simply attach to network and forget about it. Almost.
