Griff diff growl

Had a severe noise on the diff last weekend on the M1.

I changed the oil at TCS (ta Joo) but it was no better, so checked the drive shaft nuts (had a similar problem on another car years ago and it was the culprit) and they were ok.

Steadily i limped home, gutted at just taxing the car the very same morning but with a nice dyno graph

I finished work early today due to the rain and decided it was time to take the diff out.

A couple of hours later it was on the floor (a job that needed to be done for the diff bushes anyway).

I started to strip the diff down and noticed the pinion nut was not very tight!!!

A quick check inside and everything looks ok, i will put new bearings and seals in as a matter of course.

Has anyone had a similar experience on the GKN diff ???

Are they easy to work on and get part for Paul or is this a job best left to the knowledgeable?
My lsd plates have given up the ghost, but the box is quiet and otherwise works fine.

The diff is easier to strip than get out of the car for sure

All bearings have toyo part numbers and the seals look like regular oil seals.

i would leave it to a profesional if you are unsure.

Luckily i think this diff is quite simplistic after the plantery transmissions i have worked on with CAT bulldozers and motor scrapers.

I think parts are getting rare for these diffs,you may find someone to help with the plates?

Is there another Diff that could used with little/if any mods?

I was wondering this too, a sierra cosworth diff would handle the power but i am unsure about the torque.

It would have to be a similar size across the track of the diff for the drive shafts.
Maybe a granada cosworth diff would do it but i am unsure about the ratio?
