Hi, I'm new here (and new to photography too) Here are a couple pics, from the south coast of England, that I have taken with my very basic Kodak.

Thanks

It is one of my favourite spots, just West of Beachy Head. Im in Worthing myself though. The camera I use is a Kodak CX 6200. I'll start looking for a better in time

Those cliffs are quite big, so I guess the waves were too.

In my opinion, they are perfectly adequate pics. A bit of photoshop assistance may not hurt but for the camera, they are very good. In the end, as long as you like them then it matters not what other think. People tend to get quite Anal regarding photo's not being "Perfect". Well sorry to say but although there are some Very Very good pics on here, Very few are perfect out of the box. Just my opinion of course.

Dave, are you saying his photos arnt perfect?

The whole shebang is fun. Reading, learning, buying, and shooting. And then discovering through PH that you can get nude models for free!

Like anything in life, its the journey which counts. Enjoy the ride and learning every day how to do what you do a little better than you did the day before.

Exactly. I have a D70 and a D100 plus I use all Nikon Glass and VR at that. My pics are not perfect, and never will be. The day I achieve perfection will be the day I stick all my gear on Ebay and not bother any more. Life's too short to worry about perfection or what others think. Constructive criticism is one thing but sometimes people can go over the top. This to my tiny mind, has an adverse effect and can prematurely end the enthusiasm a person has built up using their toys. As I said. "If you like the pic then that's all that matters"

Good idea People on ebay will pay anything for objects which have graced the lives of those who have achieved perfection

Very wise words though Dave. I respect those who take photography seriously - So long as you dont take yourself too seriously, it boils back down to life. Fun. Getting out there, enjoying yourself, learning from others and maybe even showing someone the ropes one day when youve learnt a thing or two yourself

Hi Froddan, I'll vote for number 2: more detail in the shadows. Wouldn't put it on the wall but it has some atmosphere.

And what would do you know about buying and shooting? NB Re nude models, yes, Bob is available for hire; he's 74 and has a matching waist...

The last photograph feels very moody and in my eyes, looks amazing for what it is.

With photography people are always comparing what they are looking at to a similar one of a similar subject. The fact that the other one might be slightly better quality or might have slightly better light is irrelevant.

If you think your work is good..It is.

Christ Dave, I wouldnt know to shoot. Having a bit of a midlife crisis at the moment! I have even asked the doctor for Viagra as the lot I ordered from the internet didnt turn up and it gets a bit embarassing when it looks at my feet all the time.

Sorry to hear that Bob. Guess you will be called Bobby No Knob from now on
