I can not decide if i should by a Sagaris or not. Living in a relatively sunny area of France i love taking the top of my Chim and am worried that if i buy a Sagaris i will miss this. Has anyone done this and regretted it apart from the speed six scary stories.

I used to drive around in an 111s elise and bought an s2exige. Better car, no doubt about it but really missed taking the roof off, and i live in Manchester!!
When i bought the t350t my experience led me to buy the t350t rather than the improved sagaris.
Nice dilema to have though.

Fair enough.. From TVR website though, 4235mm Tuscan II Conv, Sagaris 4057mm, difference 178mm = 7 inches. Since its the same engine and chassis (Sag 40mm wider though) bonnet must be the same length? Maybe the Sag bonnet looks shorter due to the slats?

Don't think we've had a my bonnet's longer than yours thread on PH before

I now i am going to get some flack for this but here goes.
I also thought of keeping the chim and getting a sag but i have been hanging my nose over a new Aston V8 (sorry lads but i have just inherited a bit of money). I will always have a TVR in my garage and i do like the roof down motoring and with the Taraka upgrade my chim is astoundingly quick much quiker than an Aston i think. So it basically comes down to a Sag/Aston choice. Do i plump for some more mad TVR motoring in a sag or do i go down the more refined yet still a bit quick Aston road. If i have 2 TVR's will i quickly get tired of 1 and sell knowing that i will probably get rid of the Sag.

Personally if you've got 80k to spend I'd not rush out an get a Sag just yet as there's rumour of a 'variant' appearing soon.

Aston far too refined and calm - approaching motorised armchair mode.
I use the Chim every now and then, sunny days, when the 'Gris went for 6k and 12k services and some paint repair the other week.
Just couldn't do without either.
Have you driven a 'Gris yet?

Ahh, my friend, so been there! In my case though I had a 4.3 Griff though and I had only ever owned roadsters and the Aston I was looking at instead of a Gris was a DB7 Vantage.

I love roadsters, I miss being able to drop the roof enourmously and Im very very keen on the idea of a Tuscan 'vert just for that reason to replace the Gris at some pt. However, the Gris is simply in a different league to the Grif/Chimp. OK, there isnt that 83mph sound that you get from the V8, but you learn to appreciate the howl of the Six in a different way. The 8 grumbles at you and seems to fill your whole body with bass that you just cant help but grinning with. The Six's howl at something like 4-5krpm with the taps opened in say 2nd or 3rd will scare the living cr@p out of you and make your hairs stand on end.

Aston V8 v Sagaris isnt even a contest for me. Old school proper twin screw Vantage yes, but this new thing? All pretty frock, nice hair and no blow job for me Im afraid.

trust me, you won't be getting rid of the Sagaris if you get one.

The convertible issue is a tough one. I'm not sure I can understand the 'tuscan being too long' thing but if you just don't like the looks then that's fair enough. For driving around France though a tuscan would be sensational on virtually any road and I don't think the long nose will be an issue.

I live in Paris now and have driven my Sagaris around France and it's incredible. Capable on the Auto route and devastating on smooth french minor roads. I too love convertibles and had a Honda S2000 and a Tamora before. At the end of the day it came down to the feeling of safety with the hard roof. With a tvr that means a full race roll cage as fitted to the t350's and Sagaris. It might sound a bit wet but I felt the Tamora and Tuscans were just a bit too fast as a convertible and I bought the Sagaris to drive hard, not cruise around in. I just found the temptation to drive the Tamora fast too irresistable, it's just too much fun, so I thought I might be better off with the roll cage. I had no worries with the Honda but the Tamora was just so much quicker it made me think twice. Besides, I don't know why but hard top versions of convertibles are cooler. Like the Lotus Exige, the Sagaris is a little GT racing car from the inside and the outside and to me for some reason hard tops look better or at least harder or cooler than soft tops. I found an Exige more exciting to drive than the Elise, because it had the roof on!

I imagine the the T350T with it's removable targa panels would be the best of both worlds ie full cage and wind in the hair. But having never driven one I don't know how much of a convertible sensation you get, or if the roof panels work well when in place. But if they do add to the car, a t350tt with the red rose engine might be just what you're looking for as it would be very nearly as quick if not absolutely as quick as the Sagaris in a straight line. But in my experience the drive in the Sagaris is so intensely rewarding I don't think I'd notice even if the roof fell off.

T350t and save £10k. Much scarier to drive than the Sag, but can be sorted with the right shocks and corner weighting.

Must admit I have looked at the AMV8 - but the reports on it are not brilliant, it does look a great car.. but suspect too refined. I went from a Tamora (and other rag tops) to the Sag and it did not bother me. Although you live in France and I live in the country that invented rain. . I think if I was going to change (when I need to waste more money!!) - I would/might/could look at a Exige 240R/Cup R or 220S..nearly done 12k in the Sag since July... might need a change soon - see what TVR bring out next.

Spadgefr, I'll go with DJC and Pit's posts.

Once bitten, forever smitten.

A test drive will sort you out - after that the decision making process will have ended, and just a question of "cheque or card sir".

Get a T350t you then get the best of both worlds. Lets face it a sagaris is only a T350 with a 12 grand body kit and an extra 30 hp.

You the have openish top driving and 12k in your pocket.
