Hi sorry to ask a basic question but I want to move on from burning CD's and files which I have mastered, to burning bigger files if it can be done.

The scenario is I have a MPEG which is 730mb in size (766,255,124kb to be precise)

I have a pc with a DVD RW on it.

I have some discs which are DVD-R, 4X write once, single sided, 4.7gb for single use.

So questions are will the file fit? Do I need to download some software to do this? Are these the correct discs....and any questions I should have asked but didn't know I should have!

Any help appreciated....

The disks are fine..Your 730mb file will fit about 6 times over.. 1Gb = 1000Mb

For burning, I use Nero v6 and it works like a charm..

If you want it to play the DVD in a player you'll need to make sure that your MPEG is the correct version.

As I remember, CD (VCD) is MPEG1 and DVD is MPEG2.

Nero etc will possibly do the conversion for you automatically.

www.videohelp.com is a good place for information (looks scary initially but check out the lists down the left hand side).

Couple of other things, some DVD burners only do + or - I think, so make sure you have the right disks. Also make sure that when you Nero, you click on the burn DVD tab. That one had me foxed for ages...
