PH Track Day - 4th March (cars provided, or bring your own)

Every 6 weeks, Ultimate Car Control and former British Touring Car champion Robb Gravett put on a pistonheads members only day, and regular bookings have secured everyone a 70%+ discount.

The turnout is usually 30-40% TVR That said, there are always people who turn up and drive their daily hack, however unsporty. And there are always beginners who have never tracked their car. So the event is suitable for everyone (people often comment saying they dont own a sports car - its not necessary!) Cars (on the day) are provided at no cost. See one you like, wait for it to finish its laps, jump in and its yours! Or (preferably) just use your own.

There are several instructors, and tuition is provided in class before the event. At all times you will have an instructor in the passenger seat, providing feedback, until the end of the day when everyone tends to take eachother for laps.

Next date - 4th March which is just days away. But there are still 7 places left. All of these spaces must go! (Forgive the carpet warehouse-style 'all stock must go' tannoy-esq announcement )

One particularly nice aspect of this track day is the lack of armco(sp). The event is held in a large empty skidpan. If you loose control and find yourself going sideways at 70mph there is absolutely nothing to crash into, so you really are free push your car as hard as you like, and drive on the limit all day without the fear of the back stepping out at the wrong moment.

Couple of questions for yer Bob.

1. Do I need to bring a crash helmet along?
You do on normal a track day, but this is more a technique day so I'm not sure.

2. Are there any noise limits in effect?
A Cerb on decat and sports pipes may be an issue so I have some ACT silencers lined up if needed

Crash helmet, no. Some people bring them but no one uses them.

Ive also got a cerb (decat, sports pipes) and wasnt pulled the first time But I was pulled the next time I went so I got some (also act) silencers just to be safe.

There are no meter readings, and im my opinion it seems to be more laid back in that sense compared to the other track day venues.

I think you are being a bit unfair on him Steve. He may well have a noisy cerb, but as it never goes above 2000rpm/25mph he probably, in all honesty, doesnt know.

And Rob, I have had my parking excellent ability confirmed by 2 PHers recently, and they both agree that your allegations are spurious
